Welcome to Albany Hill

A geographical anomaly, Albany Hill protrudes from the surrounding flat landscape, shrouded in oak and eucalyptus trees and affording one of the most unusual panoramic views in the area.

Homeowners on this hill near the east shore of San Francisco Bay are privy to spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the sparkling San Francisco Bay, and the picturesque Berkeley Hills. This "little hill," although entirely within the boundaries of the city of Albany, is the namesake of its immediate neighbor to the north, El Cerrito.

Although it appears physically detached, Albany Hill is quite close to the city's many retail shops, restaurants, public transportation options and stellar schools. Residents also enjoy going down the hill to the popular El Cerrito farmers' market for locally grown fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, and live music. The market is held twice a week at the El Cerrito Plaza, which is also home to Trader Joe's, Barnes & Noble, and Starbucks.

But the real joy of living on the hill is the fact that a majority of it remains undeveloped. With trails that wind through towering eucalyptus groves to reveal intimate views of the bay, Albany Hill offers a brief respite from the daily grind.
