"Our mission is to bring together children from different socio-economic backgrounds to grow and work in harmony and cooperation, and to actively work toward all of Dr. Maria Montessori's concepts, especially that of peace through education." — Nia House Learning Center

Based in West Berkeley, the Nia House Learning Center is a well-loved Montessori-certified school. It focuses on child-centered learning, joyful curiosity, and harmony with community and the earth. Currently serving 84 learners, the facility has a shared kitchen, indoor and outdoor classroom spaces, a vegetable garden and lots of room for toddlers and primary education students play.

The Toddler Program is tailored to children aged 18 months to 3 years and designed to nurture their natural independence, responsibility, confidence, curiosity, and motivation to learn.

The Primary Program serves children from ages 3 to 6 and includes the traditional Montessori goals of concentration, order, coordination and independence, allowing students to build academic, physical and social skills.

Nia House shares Red Oak’s values of equity, cooperation and education. They provide scholarships up to 48% of their families and ROOF is pleased to support it.
