World Water Day is held on March 22nd to raise awareness about the importance of fresh water. This year's theme is "Accelerating Change," which highlights the urgent need for action to address the water crisis. In recognition this year, organizations and individuals around the world are making efforts to conserve water, promote sustainability, and increase access to clean and safe water.
Red Oak is proud to partner with and support LavaMaex, a local non-profit (and ROOF grant recipient) that provides mobile showers and other basic hygiene services to the unhoused. The organization serves the most vulnerable populations with a mission to provide Radical Hospitality® a practice that includes providing hope, dignity, and community through their unique mobile facilities called Pop-Up Care Villages. In addition to showers and hygiene services, LavaMaex provides haircuts, hygiene kits, clothing, shoes, meals and much more, serving thousands throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
In the spirit of "Accelerating Change," there are many actions that individuals and organizations can take to promote sustainable water management. This includes implementing water efficient practices, such as using recycled water or rainwater harvesting systems, and supporting policies and initiatives that prioritize water conservation.
On a larger scale, governments and international organizations are also addressing the water crisis. United Nations Water Week is underway and has set a goal of ensuring access to clean and safe water for all by 2030.
Making meaningful progress towards water sustainability requires collaboration and collective action. World Water Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of access to clean water, both locally and globally.
If you would like to make a contribution to LavaMaex in support of World Water Day, all donations given through Red Oak’s ROOF (Red Oak Opportunity Foundation) from March 20th through March 27th will be donated in support of the organization’s goal to provide 1,500 showers to people in need. Please consider joining Red Oak in helping to provide for our unhoused neighbors.
Red Oak is the first real estate brokerage in the Bay Area to be a carbon neutral and greencertified business. We’d love to hear your ideas for sustainable living and other ways to promote World Water Day. Contact us.
