When my mother died, we soon realized that we would need to sell her home in El Cerrito and that there was a huge amount of work to do: emptying the house, including selling, donating and hauling and deciding what would be cost effective to do to fix up the house for sale. We were faced with finding contractors in an area we didn’t live in anymore and many other issues. All this in an emotionally fraught time. I am so glad we called Maya Arechiga early in the process. We had intended to bring in a realtor at some point, but my sister-in-law suggested we get someone’s opinion on what to do in the house early on. Maya knew just what to do with the house considering our budget and got our approval for every expense. She knows so many people! She knew a wonderful estate-sale person who set up an estate sale for us (pro-tip: don’t take stuff to Goodwill until after the estate sale) and has relationships with many contractors who have worked with her on previous projects. I wish I had another house to sell....so I could continue to work with Maya'. That statement sums up how I felt about Maya as my seller's agent. I was the trustee of my late grandmother's house and was looking for an agent to handle the Trust sale. I sent Maya an unsolicited email and quickly received a response. When I met her for the initial interview - I knew I found the right agent. She was pleasant, on-time, efficient and highly knowledgeable about the El Cerrito area. She gave me options for investing in the house (e.g. sell as-is, do some minor cleanup, do a major remodel)...and committed to bring her vendors and then to personally project manage whatever level of investment I wanted to make in order to prepare the house for sale. We selected a minor investment level - and Maya handled it all...painting, minor electrical, landscape, cleanup/hauling. She always kept me up to speed...and gave me the choice on how to communicate - phone calls, in-person, texts, emails. She was able to prepare the house and bring it to market within 3 weeks. Her pricing strategy and her personal network produced multiple offers and we ended up selling the house for well over asking price - no contingencies, all cash with a two week close! All of Maya's efforts were so welcome and needed - since I lived about an hour away and couldn't be at the house to manage its prep. My day job also kept me from dedicating much time to the effort...even though I wanted to be close enough to the details to ensure any money we were spending was worthwhile and that I was maximizing the profit from the house. With a Trust sale, it can feel overwhelming at first...but yet I felt confident and reassured with Maya at my side - it helped immensely knowing that Maya was experienced with trust sales and able to provide the expertise that I needed. I have used multiple real estate agents in the past to buy and sell houses....but frankly...while those experiences were OK...they did not compare Maya - she was in a league of her own. This was my first time finding a realtor to sell a house. After interviewing a few different agents, I picked Maya based on her experience, knowledge on the local real estate market and her straightforward approach for selling houses.Throughout the selling process, Maya was able to provide guidance at every step. And it's not one size fits all, Maya tailors who works well with either the buyer or seller.  Maya was committed to me 110% (even though she had other listings, I had her full attention). She was always available taking my calls, or promptly returning them and answering my emails (I don't text). She was timely, kept on track, and would send me reminders. Maya was constantly on the look-out for my property, even while doing her personal business.   Realtors can wear different hats. "They're your sage parent/data analyst/therapist--all rolled into one". Selling a property in the family for 50 years, with long-term tenants, was overwhelming, stressful, and emotional. Maya was proactive, hands-on, worked hard, and took care of everything...(including me!)...to my great relief. She took care of what other agents wanted me to do. Maya is also a notary which is necessary in real estate transactions. Maya was an incredible agent for us. She sold our house in Richmond Heights very efficiently and quickly. We had many requirements for selling our house and she met them all. She was always there when we called or texted. There was nothing she was stumped by. We were having a home inspection early in the morning and we were warned by the inspection company the night before that they would be looking to see that we had all of the right smoke/carbon monoxide alarms in the house.
