Buying and selling real estate can be an intimidating, stressful and highly emotional process. I will act as your trusted guide to help you successfully traverse the real estate landscape. I take personal responsibility for making sure that your deal occurs in a smooth, efficient and informed manner.
I grew up in San Francisco's Marina district until my family moved to the East Bay in 1976. I have lived all over the Bay Area, from San Francisco to Santa Cruz, San Jose to El Sobrante, Oakland to Richmond — it all feels like home to me. My wealth of local knowledge will serve you in buying and selling your home. I currently live in Oakland's Rockridge district in a house that I completely remodeled down to the studs. While I focus on the Berkeley/Oakland area, I also work with buyers and sellers throughout the East Bay. I travel to wherever my clients need me and have sold homes in Walnut Creek, Alamo, San Francisco, Fairfield, Santa Clara, Mountain View and San Jose. I have even handled those tricky, court-confirmed probate sales in San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley.
I have been doing real estate experience since 2003 (20 years and counting) for my clients. Homes have been in my blood ever since I started doing construction at the age of 16. I continued remodeling homes through college and several years post-college, working for a high-end contractor and an architect building a spec home in the East Bay. I have been a top producer at another local real estate company and maintain a close relationship to many of my buyers and sellers long after the transaction closes. Many of them refer their family and friends to me. It is nice to know they trust me to take care of them, too.
I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a bachelor's degree in psychology and co-authored a research paper on ethnicity and cardiovascular reactivity. I have worked as a customer service director/operations manager for an online retailer, a cellular technology integrator, an acute mental health counselor, a UC Berkeley psychology researcher and a high-end finish carpenter/builder. I am extremely knowledgeable about construction and remodeling and love fixer properties. I have been a member of Recreational Equipment Inc. since 1991 and am an outdoor enthusiast. I am proud to be focusing my renaissance talents on real estate and helping people buy and sell homes and purchase investment properties.
Whatever your real estate dreams, I can help you realize them. I am a service-oriented NAR member who looks at real estate from various angles to help my clients achieve their goals. My background in construction, probate courts, technology, psychology and business can help you make sound and informed real estate decisions. One of my clients commented that he could not believe how far I went to help him, not only buy, but also to meet his architect and introduce him to contractors and service providers. I spent a lot of time talking him through the process to help alleviate his fears and concerns. As I tell my clients, my real estate goals are not about money, they're about people.
"I love what I do! I get to help wonderful people find homes where memories are made while helping them plan for their financial security."
For buyers, I spend a great deal of time educating you about the current market and the different neighborhoods in the Bay Area. This will make you an informed buyer even before the offer process begins. Tell me what your needs are: to be able to walk to coffee, to be close to public transportation, to have space for your art, to find a cosmetic fixer or your favorite architectural style. I see new properties every week and can match you with the perfect home. I am technologically savvy and utilize the communication style that best suits your personality. As a former high-end builder, I will give you honest feedback on homes and help you envision a property's full potential.
I was once a first-time home buyer and remember all the questions and uncertainty around purchasing a property. I bought the proverbial "worst house on a good street", acted as my own general contractor, and spent 10 months and more than $150,000 to renovate it. I know first-hand what it takes to completely remodel a home with all new systems and seismic upgrades, taking it from ugly duckling to graceful swan.
For sellers, I will educate you on the current market conditions in your particular neighborhood. All houses are not the same, and a similar house on the same block could sell for tens of thousand more or tens of thousands less. I consider it my job to guide you in the process of getting your house ready for sale. Let my team of professionals show you the best way to prepare your home for sale. My creative, comprehensive marketing plan can help you get you the best price possible for your home.
Your home is typically your largest asset. Make sure you get a qualified professional to give you an annual evaluation, even if you're not planning to sell right now. Having 10-plus years in construction, I can show you which home improvement projects will return the greatest value to your home.
