Dear Prospective Home Buyer:We are writing to give you our impressions of working with Jeff Rosenbloom at Marvin Gardens.  This letter is based on our experience of working with Jeff for over six months, first as the buyer’s agent for our new home and then as seller’s agent for our old home.   Based on this experience, we were incredibly impressed with his professional knowledge, his organizational skills, his ability and willingness to go the extra mile for us.  We had known Jeff before we began looking to move, but  we became interested in having him become our agent when we met him at an open house that he was presenting.  We were impressed at how beautiful the home was and how attention had clearly been given to details in presentation of the home.  When we talked to Jeff, we realized that he had spent four months working with the owners to bring it to its current state.  We decided to bid on that house, and Jeff told us he would steer us to another agent in his firm to avoid a conflict of interest.  Although, we were disappointed that we were outbid on that home, we decided to work with Jeff in looking for new homes.  As a buyer’s agent, we noticed that Jeff had several invaluable skills.  First, he really knows homes very well.  This means that he knows neighborhoods and the details of what’s “hot” etc.  But he also knows the technical aspects of homes and asks important questions about drainage and foundations (things that in our previous experiences, real estate agents were not interested in.)  Second, when he does not know the answer to something he has an outstanding array of technical experts to answer the questions.  So, in a matter of 24-48 hours he always seemed to be able to get a roofing inspector or engineer to give us a detailed answer to a technical question.  Third, he has excellent knowledge of the professionals and people in the area and can help us know who to trust and what things we need to double check.  Fourth, he was a fantastic “filter” of information in dealing with all of the financial/administrative matters of buying a home.  He kept us focused on the variables that matter and filtered out all of the dozens of details that did not.  So, for example, he reminded us that our new house has a rebate if we do seismic work in the first year.   Fifth, he was incredibly flexible with his own time, and since we both have very busy schedules often met us late at night.  During the decision time on bidding he never pressed us for decisions we were uncomfortable with.  Sixth, he was willing to chase down the last detail we needed to know about the house.  For example, there was some question about an easement;  Jeff went to City Hall and pulled the record to reassure us before we made the bid.  In the end, we got the third house we bid on, and we were incredibly happy with it in terms of location, size and layout. As a seller’s agent, Jeff is simply a star.  Once we moved to our new house, we wanted to turn over our old house as quickly as possible.  Jeff sprang to action and orchestrated a tremendous amount of work on the old home.  He oversaw painting, stair repair and a fair bit of landscaping work.  At the same time, he advised us against making repairs that he thought would not add value (eg the roof).  He did the leg work on a variety of details (sewer lateral inspections, RICOH) that we had no time to deal with ourselves.  He even personally chose the stone for the stairs since the contractor’s suggestions were not optimal. All of this was done over two weeks which included a major holiday (Thanksgiving). He also listened to us and used our knowledge of the home to maximize its presentation. For example, when we pointed out to him that a certain area of the patio overlooked the neighbor's windows, he had the contractor create an inexpensive but effective privacy screen. In deciding how to price the house, Jeff brought in many agents from his firm and used their collective intelligence to find an optimal pricing startegy. Finally, on the days he showed the home, despite a rainy, early December date, Jeff managed to pack the open home with dozens of perspective buyers. In the end, we received five offers. Jeff was also instrumental in helping us sort thought the offers and identify the key factors in the various contingencies that made one offer more attaractive. In summary, we recommend Jeff with the highest enthusiasm. Whethr he is wandering around with you under a home looking at cracks in the foundation or baking cookies for your open house, he clearly goes the extra mile. At the same time, he has a vast knowledge of the housing market, of financing, and of legal minutae around real estate transfers to really watch out for you.

My boyfriend and I were long-time renters who had been watching the housing market in the Bay Area for about a year when we began reaching out to professionals to try and make a purchase.On our first meeting, Jeff could tell that I needed to be able to work through options and understand the context in order to (read: slowly) feel comfortable with making a decision. Jeff was a great source of knowledge and patience, never pressuring me to look at places I wasn't interested or rushing me when I felt overwhelmed. His understanding of the market gave us good perspective to look to other options we hadn't considered yet. When we were ready to make an offer, Jeff was there and ready to go. He walked us through the process and helped us make a competitive offer without losing a good understanding of the property we were purchasing. The decision to buy was pretty overwhelming for us, but Jeff was readily available to help us understand the process and any questions we had. As new home buyers, we were tentative about many things, but Jeff was supportive and offered insight and ideas in a way that made us feel more comfortable. It was such a quick process, I could not have imagined going through it without Jeff's time and effort! Thank you!

To be fair, Jeff is the only realtor we have ever worked with. That said, I can't imagine how a realtor could be any better. As first time home buyers, we had lots of questions, changed our minds over and over and took forever to make a decision. Jeff was supporting and helpful the entire time and he never pushed us to do anything we were uncomfortable with. On the other hand he was always ready to act fast and negotiate with sellers when it came time to put in a offer. I always felt like Jeff was willing to spend as much time with us as we needed. We have a great house now, but I will definitely miss going to look at houses with Jeff!

I met with Jeff for the first time in late June to discuss my relocation plans and by early October I had closed on a wonderful Craftsman bungalow in Rockridge. Jeff was recommended to us by family and we cannot sing his praises enough. Jeff Rosenbloom was an absolute breeze to work with. We were referred to him, actually, by our previous landlord when we disclosed that we were finally ready to find our permanent home! I stumbled across Jeff right after I had fired my realtor who was an old friend.  It had become a nightmare experience.  I was selling my house and saw his sign on a similar house to mine.  I called him up and asked about the house as I was curious about comps in my neighborhood.  I knew right away that he was the realtor that I needed to work with.  We signed a contract the next morning.  And within 24 hours we had an offer and were in contract within 48 hours. We started this search for a house, during a veritably insane real estate market, both of us working full time and raising a toddler--while my wife was also pregnant with our second baby (in her third trimester). This would be our very first house, after renting for so many years. Needless to say, we had our work cut out for us. We needed someone who was responsive, experienced, and determined. We found all of those qualities and more in Jeff. Some reasons why Jeff was so valuable to us: He was immediately responsive--often responding with in seconds of us texting him. As first time home buyers, we had a million questions and he quickly attended to all of them. He's been in this business for over two decades, and is well known, well liked, and well connected in the community. As an owner of various rental properties himself, Jeff had deep insight into remodeling logistics, and could estimate for us within a few hundred dollars how much a potential remodel might cost. He also made himself available to us when we wanted to see a house, sometimes on pretty short notice. There are dozens of practical reasons why Jeff was a great realtor, but I feel it's important to note that he's also just a great guy. Affable and hilarious, but also compassionate. I have to say this is super important because this market is ROUGH and can really get you down. Losing a bid hurts. My wife went into labor the night offers were due for the house we wanted. Jeff knew this might be the predicament so he was prepared, having everything ready for us and in constant communication with the listing agent. We finalized our offer in between contractions during active labor! The house we bought came down to a three way counter offer the morning our second son was born. Jeff went so far above and beyond in helping us get in the winning bid that I still can't believe it. I'm happy to now say we are happy homeowners, and can call Jeff a friend. We will absolutely be working with him when we buy our next home! (note: he's also helped win homes for my sister-in-law and another close friend... they all love Jeff too!)

My husband and I were referred to Jeff from a friend and from our first meeting, he's been a huge help in our first time home buying process. The worst part about working with Jeff was buying a home and no longer needing to work with Jeff!  Jeff was referred to us by friends whom he helped buy their first home, and I'm so grateful we found him. Jeff was super helpful in the whole house buying process. My husband and I were looking to buy a multi-unit property with a friend that was close to public transit in Berkeley or Oakland, and he totally understood what sort of thing we were looking for and had a lot of advice for how to go about it responsibly. Compared with some other realtors who kept suggesting 'safe' bets (single-family homes in Montclair), it was refreshing to find someone who could help us solve our particular goal.We were very fortunate to have an offer accepted on the first house we put in an offer on. I'm pretty sure the only reason we got the place was because Jeff is an excellent communicator, and persistent, so when we were in the top two offers selected, he spent a bunch of time convincing the sellers that were the people to sell to. His knowledge of repair work and older house architecture is really helpful for purchasing a house you may want to fix up. He's not pushy when it comes to making decisions, but when he thought we should increase our price by 30k (which was the right call), he did so in a way that put the decision in our hands. Highly recommend!

I have worked with Jeff on a number of investment properties over the past two years.  To say these deals were complex is quite an understatement, yet Jeff kept the ball moving and all the parties focused on the end game - Close!   He has gone so far as to step in when the other agent dropped the ball and chase down documents the other party was tasked with providing.  Through it all he kept a great sense of humor yet knew when and how to show some teeth when necessary.

Jeff was invaluable in helping us buy our beautiful home in Rockridge.  Not only was he very knowledgeable about the local market, but his structural knowledge about homes--being able to anticipate future problems as well as discuss necessary upgrades--surely saved us from several homes that only seemed like bargains.  He was always friendly and helpful and several times dissuaded us from putting in offers on homes he saw as bad investments, a situation where many realtors would have been simply happy to make the sale.

Jeff Rosenbloom was our realtor when we purchased our house in Berkeley. If by any chance you do not know it, the housing market in Berkeley is above the boiling point. It means that if you want to have any chance to purchase a house, you must be super efficient and fast. This is exactly why we highly recommend Jeff. I will try to emphasize Jeff’s qualifications chronologically, starting with getting to know your realtor and ending with purchasing a house:  Our first meeting with Jeff was great. He was well organized, very open and he gave us plenty of starting advice. More than that, he referred us to an excellent mortgage broker. Jeff was amazing in getting to know us. He quickly understood what each of us (my wife and I) were looking for. I think that, very quickly, my wife counted on his opinion more than she counted on mine… He was very responsive, 24/7. He was always patient with us; it was our first home and we bombarded him with a lot of questions. Jeff has a first-hand knowledge of construction. It means that when he sees a house, he knows what to look for. More than that, he knows many professional contractors (plumbers, electricians etc.) who can come in a short time and check the house. Again, timing is critical! Jeff’s knowledge of the market is exceptional! He will NOT advise you to put in a bid of too much or too little. In line with that, he did not push us to buy any house. He always emphasized that it is our choice. He also knows and has good relationships with other real estate agents. Do not underestimate this point! When you put a bid on a house, you are facing tons of paper work. Jeff guided us through it in a timely manner. Again, timing is crucial. No one is going to wait for you… After we purchased the house, Jeff was still there for us--we needed some information from the previous owner, we had questions for the seller’s realtor etc. Jeff was and still is very supportive. Last but not least, Jeff is a fun person to work with. You are going to spend a lot of time with your realtor. Why not enjoy it?
